OEDIPE / ANTIGONE
Show · Monday, November 2 · 19:30 · Toulouse
1 Rue Pierre Baudis, THÉÂTRE DE LA CITÉ
Oedipus, king of Thebes, discovers that he is the author of the worst crimes and responsible for his people's misfortunes. The tragedy speaks of the curse on his lineage, the one that drives fathers to kill their children, but also of the failure of a hero who believed he could settle everything with his intelligence. Antigone, his daughter, the one who defends the “unwritten laws” against the political order, will be the final victim of this cycle of violence. By linking these three plays, Stéphane Braunschweig makes Sophocles’s questions resonate with our time.
