Music Salon: Georgian Polyphonies

CPFI, 11 Rue des Frères Gréban

MZE SHINA means "inner sun" in Georgian. Created by Denise and Craig Schaffer, this ensemble has been devoted to the repertoire of Georgian polyphonic singing for over 20 years. Farmers' and harvest songs, wedding songs, healing songs, sacred chants, the Georgian repertoire was inscribed as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2001. It echoes this collective memory that has roots in the source of every tradition.
