From mythological artworks in the museum, some deal with violent content. Whether implicit or explicit, this violence underpins our patriarchal society, which since antiquity eroticizes and minimizes violence against women and minorities. Drawing on paintings and sculptures from the 16th to the 20th century, Jessica Degain, curator, deconstructs the culture of rape to highlight sisterhood, equality and consent. Given its sensitive content, this exhibit is recommended for 18+.
