The straits separate and unite. Borders but also passages, they attract curiosity to the other shore. The Strait of Gibraltar is a double mirror where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, and Andalusia and the Maghreb gaze at each other. There two great musical traditions flourished: flamenco in the north and a so-called 'Arab-Andalusian' music in the south. The differences between these traditions remain but their kinship is striking. This concert is a sequence of melodic tableaux, played, sung and danced according to traditional rules.
