Riz Amer by Guiseppe de Santis (Italy-1949-1h50) B&W restored film with Silvana Mangano, Vittorio Gassman. A pair of thieves takes refuge in a rice-picking camp. A milestone of Neorealism, Riz Amer subtly addresses the condition of agricultural workers in the Po valley under a crime plot and a love-chase.
