Born in Cotonou in the early 1990s, the Gangbé Brass Band, whose name means “the sound of metal” in Fon, brings brass fanfares together with Beninese musical traditions. Trumpets, trombones, percussion and voices create music nourished by vodoun rhythms, Afrobeat and jazz. The voices and brass respond to each other on overlapping rhythms that drive dance.
