Franz von Suppé's Requiem
Music · Sunday, November 22 · 16:00 · Marseille 5e Arrondissement
Eglise Saint-Michel Archange, 1 Place De l'Archange
On the program: the Requiem, a masterful work composed by Franz von Suppé in 1855. It is a piece that oscillates between episodes of strong dramatic intensity and moments of striking melodic refinement. Long obscured in the 20th century, the score, today rediscovered, is praised for its melodic richness. The 80 choristers of the Philharmonic Choir and its quartet of soloists, accompanied by the Marseille Chamber Orchestra, will be conducted by Jean-Emmanuel Jacquet, choral singing professor at the Pierre Barbizet Conservatory in Marseille.
