The 18 fragments of the collection evoke the hands of artists and thinkers touching the memory of Europe and more broadly of the world: from Camille Claudel to Chaplin, including Rosa Luxemburg, the pacifist activist creating her marvelous herbarium in prison during the Great War, and Nelly Sachs, the Berlin poet who fled to Sweden to escape Nazism, transcending pain through writing.
