On July 3, 1822, Franz Schubert left on paper a short text, Mein Traum (My Dream), a symbolic staging of his torments. He describes his inadequacy to social norms, his feeling of being different, his joy always tinged with sadness, and the music, the only consolation, by which he tries to transmute pain into beauty. In resonance with this text (read by an actor), Nicolas Ellis imagines a kind of “transfigured symphony” that, from lieder to movements of symphonies (the Fifth and the Unfinished), takes us on a journey through the most beautiful pages of the famous composer…
