The Firmament by Lucy Kirkwood by La Compagnie Théâtre in Dire Angleterre, 1759. A woman accused of murdering a child, a young domestic worker plays her last card: she claims to be pregnant to escape hanging. Twelve women are then gathered to decide. Twelve lives, twelve gazes, a verdict that can change everything. In this taut, electric upstairs-in-a-closing-room drama, the female voice becomes power — rare, fragile, burning. But what to do with this power in a male-dominated society? A gripping judicial thriller, an intense feminist epic.
