Franz von Suppé's Requiem performed by the Marseille Philharmonic Choir
Music · Sunday, November 8 · 16:00 · Roquevaire
avenue des Alliés, Église Saint Vincent
Franz von Suppé (1819-1895) is one of the pioneers of Viennese operetta and the author of sparkling overtures such as La Cavalerie légère and Poète et Paysan. Behind his popular and festive successes, Franz von Suppé composed several sacred, deep and spiritual works. Composed in 1855, this Requiem in D minor gives it a somber character. Its 13 movements oscillate between episodes of great dramatic intensity and moments of reflection of great melodic finesse. It is a profoundly grandiose, rare and moving piece to discover.
