In 2012, at the Villa Medici, I photographed the stone. I searched in architecture for something that exceeds the monument: a material that has withstood time, charged by uses, presences and successive gazes. The Villa seemed to me less as a conserved building than as an ancient body continually reactivated by those who pass through it. The stone remained, but it was not still. It accumulated.
