What I see when I look at the photo of this little girl at the dawn of the new century is that she knows nothing yet of what the world will teach her, and that being a little girl is a joy for her because it means she can become Britney Spears and that Britney Spears for her then is to sing and dance, to be in her body without fear and without distance, to feel very alive, to stand, far, far from fear. But with this avant-garde novel-essay, the author unravels the history of this icon of pop culture, and says, simply and plainly, what that means.
