Description: The Petit Palais presents an unpublished monograph dedicated to the painter Eva Gonzalès (1847-1883), ahead of a stop at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in February 2027. Contemporary of Mary Cassatt and Berthe Morisot, whom she is often associated with, Eva Gonzalès has never had a major retrospective in France or internationally. This artist with a subtle sensibility was the sole pupil of Édouard Manet, with whom she maintained an exceptional artistic relationship. Supported by a thoughtful and cultivated family circle, she managed to assert her singular voice.
