Cinemathèque: The Man with the Golden Arm

2 Rue des Ursulines, 37000 Tours, France

The Man with the Golden Arm by Otto Preminger (USA - 1955 - 2h) starring Kim Novak, Frank Sinatra, and Eleanor Parker. Addicted to morphine, Frankie Machine decides to change his life, to become a drummer in a band, and to break free from drugs. Preminger tackles here a subject still rarely addressed by cinema, with the jazzy rhythm of Elmer Bernstein's score. Frank Sinatra's remarkable performance also contributes to the power of this dark film. Film presented by members of the A.J.C. In partnership with the Directorate of Social Cohesion.
