Cotton Club: French-language dubbed screening

Cinéma Grand Ecran, 3 Place de Verdun

Film by Francis Ford Coppola (1984). Revisit the heart of one of New York's most mythical jazz clubs of the 1930s. The film is heavily inspired by the history and the people who worked there, notably Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway. Richard Gere delivers the lead role brilliantly. Despite difficulties with the producer during filming, Coppola delivers a touching feature. Including compositions by Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway, the film's soundtrack album composed by John Barry won the Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album in 1986.
