This suite of short pieces by Camille Saint-Saëns evokes various animals through musical writing punctuated by whimsy and mischievous quotations. Next comes Le Roi qui n’aimait pas la musique, the story of a grumpy king who bans music from his people, a poetic tale by Mathieu Laine carried by the melodies of Karol Beffa. Thanks to an original instrumentation bringing together two pianos, strings, flute, clarinet, harmonica (celesta) and xylophone, the colors and sonorities of the instruments unfold in a musical journey full of poetry and surprises.
