Introduction For more than two centuries, the ceremonial rooms of the Hôtel de la Marine have been the stage for grand receptions that have shaped the monument's history. At the time it housed the Ministry of the Navy, the Hôtel hosted prestigious balls, including the Europe Ball in 1802, the ball for the coronation of Charles X in 1825, and the grand ball given by Napoleon III in 1866.
