From Barcelona's gypsy quarter to Hollywood, Carmen Amaya revolutionized flamenco. Aina Alegre calls on the spirit of this bailaora to compose a tense dance, haunted by her ghost and blazing energy, contagious. Her radical zapateado and defiance of gender roles made Carmen Amaya a major flamenco figure of the 20th century, who waited for global recognition. For Aina Alegre, she is a force to be reactivated. Seven performers summon footwork, spine twists, and arm movements.
