On the occasion of the Photographie’s bicentennial, Walter Benjamin’s framework shows how photography can bridge different artistic disciplines. In his recent works, Stéphane Couturier arranges two photographs according to a precise protocol to develop a combinatorial dynamic. Photography becomes a material, a reservoir of shapes, in a deconstruction-reconstruction game that reveals new forms and materialities. By merging two images from different image families, he explores new visual possibilities.
